“In this powerful episode, we delve into the fight led since 2019 by this association, which aims to denounce rape as a weapon of war, prevent its proliferation, and support victims — both women and children born of rape — in their healing and pursuit of justice.

The Grand Duchess shares the origins of her commitment, born from a life-changing encounter in 2016 with Dr. Denis Mukwege (2018 Nobel Peace Prize laureate), and discusses the concrete actions carried out on the ground. In 2024 alone, the association directly supported over 1,800 women and children, reached 22,000 people through its initiatives, and raised awareness among more than 110,000 individuals about this vital cause.

In a global context where armed conflicts rose by 25% in 2024 — having doubled over the past five years according to NGO ACLED — this conversation is more relevant than ever.”

According to the United Nations, women account for 48.1% of migratory flows. On the road to exile, they leave alone or with their children, and are even more vulnerable than men.

Because of their gender, women are more exposed to violence, sexual harassment and exploitation during migration. While they are already fleeing a difficult daily life (domestic violence, poverty, armed conflicts….), their situation does not automatically improve once they arrive in their host country. How can we better support these women?
