23/11/2024

As part of Orange Week, a large walk organized by the Conseil National des Femmes du Luxembourg (CNFL) was held in the center of Luxembourg City to denounce violence against women. HRH Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg took part in the event, accompanied by Luc Frieden, Luxembourg Prime Minister, Yuriko Backes, Minister for Equal Opportunities, Maurice Bauer, Luxembourg City alderman, and Claudine Speltz, President of the CNFL.

The Survivors of wartime rape and Stand Speak Rise Up! project leaders, as well as numerous partners, including Indosuez Luxembourg, the Engie Foundation, BGL BNP Paribas and ELLE Luxembourg, were also on hand, along with many other Luxembourg personalities and organizations.

HRH the Grand Duchess delivered a moving speech, calling for collective mobilization to end sexual and gender-based violence, while stressing the importance of supporting Survivors on their path to resilience.
Together, they affirmed that combating violence against women requires a collective effort involving public institutions, private players and citizens.
