Project Description
/ Solidarity screening in aid of children born of rape
On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, Stand Speak Rise Up! and GRACE organized a free solidarity screening of the film The wound is where the light enters, in aid of children born of rape in Uganda, in the presence of HRH Grand Duchess Maria-Teresa of Luxembourg.
GRACE, whose founding members were present at the 2019 Stand Speak Rise Up! Forum in Luxembourg, is an international charity based in the UK. It promotes long-term, sustainable reconciliation and advocacy for war-born children, their families and war-affected communities.
A partnership for children born of rape
Following our guiding principle “Nothing about us, without us“, Stand Speak Rise Up! supports this peer-to-peer support project. Children born of rape are at the very heart of the project, both actors and beneficiaries.
Through this initiative, young people are trained and become a listening ear and support for other children. The project will enable them to provide initial mental health care and offer Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), a compact treatment program that has proved effective in treating post-traumatic stress disorder in complex, fragile contexts where resources are limited. They are now ready and eager to move from beneficiaries to actors in helping other children born of rape.
