Looking Back at the Event: “Women in Exile, a Journey Marked by Violence: Understanding to Act Better”
On December 6, 2024, Stand Speak Rise Up!, in partnership with Groupe SOS, co-organized a crucial event at the Learning Planet Institute: “Women in Exile, a Journey Marked by Violence: Understanding to Act Better.” This gathering shed light on the violence suffered by women before, during, and after their journey into exile, and fostered discussions on the necessary solutions to support them effectively.
Among the speakers, Chékéba Hachemi, long-time advocate for women’s rights and founder of Afghanistan Libre, spoke out against the use of rape as a weapon of war. She emphasized the urgent need to support the recovery of Survivors and children born of rape, a cause she champions alongside H.R.H. Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg within Stand Speak Rise Up!.
This event provided an opportunity to exchange insights with experts, associations, and committed individuals on concrete solutions to protect and support these women on their path to dignified and adapted recovery.
Discover the white paper resulting from this event, which summarizes key discussions and offers recommendations to better support women in exile who are victims of violence.
